On January 12, 2022, Prof. Dr. Rok Žitko, a scientific advisor at the Jožef Stefan Institute and professor at the Faculty of Mathematics and Physics UL, delivered a colloquium titled “From Quantum Impurities to Quantum Devices.” The lecture addressed one of the fundamental problems in quantum mechanics—the influence of the environment on quantum systems. It touched upon theoretical issues such as the quantum impurity problem and practical challenges in developing quantum technologies, particularly in constructing high-performance quantum computers.

Prof. Dr. Žitko presented modern theoretical methods and computational approaches that help us understand complex quantum systems and contribute to the advancement of future quantum devices.
