At a round table held on 3 December 2025 to mark the conclusion of the International Year of Quantum Science and Technology, organised by the Faculty of Mathematics and Physics of the University of Ljubljana in cooperation with the Jožef Stefan Institute (IJS), experts in quantum science emphasised the strong competitiveness of Slovenian research in the European and global contexts. According to the speakers, Slovenia has a realistic potential to attain a leading position worldwide in selected niche areas of quantum science and technology.

The participants underlined that the realisation of this potential requires a stable and well-coordinated research and economic environment, as well as effective integration between academia and industry. The principal framework for the long-term development of quantum science and technologies is provided by the recently adopted Strategy for the Development of Quantum Technologies in Slovenia until 2035.
