Quantum Day
April 14 marks World Quantum Day, an initiative launched by the global network of researchers “World Quantum Day” to promote public understanding of quantum science and technology.
To celebrate this occasion, the Slovenian Community for Quantum Science and Technology QUTES and the Jožef Stefan Institute are organizing a series of events.

HIGH SCHOOL STUDENT WORKSHOP
April 14, 2026, 10:30–15:30, Jožef Stefan Institute
This workshop will introduce the basics of quantum physics. Students will visit laboratories where quantum phenomena are studied and quantum devices are developed. They will also get hands-on experience assembling optical devices.
Who can participate? Final-year high school students interested in physics are invited to participate. Priority will be given to third-year students.
Application deadline: 27. 3. 2026.
The number of places is limited (10). You will be notified of the selection by 3. 4. Participants will receive a certificate of participation.

In your motivation essay, you may briefly describe, for example:
– why you would like to participate in the workshop,
– which concept or physics question you would like to understand better,
– your previous activities (competitions, clubs, projects),
– how learning more about quantum science may benefit you.
The application may be submitted by the student, or sent by a mentor or parent on address: qutes@ijs.si.
