Slovenia is entering the era of the second quantum revolution, bringing exceptional opportunities for technological advancement. However, the country’s scientific sector faces a lack of systemic support for research funding.
In an interview for DELO’s Sobotna priloga, Prof. Dr. Dragan Mihailović, head of the Complex Matter Department at the Jožef Stefan Institute, discussed the 25% decline in research funding in recent years, leading to a brain drain of talented scientists abroad. He stressed that stable funding, clear evaluation criteria, and stronger industry collaborations are crucial for Slovenia’s competitiveness in quantum science.
