Slovenian quantum physicist Prof. Dr. Dragan Mihailović from the Jožef Stefan Institute and the Faculty of Mathematics and Physics, University of Ljubljana, discussed the significance of quantum technologies and the revolutionary discoveries made by the Slovenian research team in an interview for the Tromba portal.
Their research, published in the prestigious journal Nature Communications, introduces a new type of memory element with record-breaking speed, paving the way for ultra-fast memory development for low-temperature computing.
Prof. Mihailović explained that quantum technologies promise significant advancements in industry, science, and security, enabling ultra-fast decryption of encrypted codes. He emphasized that many countries are already heavily investing in this field, highlighting the importance of Slovenia’s support for the Quantum Manifesto, which outlines the future of the quantum revolution. He also revealed that Slovenia has committed to participating in the billion-euro European QuantERA project, a crucial step toward integrating the country into international quantum research.
