IJS Colloquium: Harnessing Quantum Phenomena and Winning!, Dr. Rok Žitko, Jožef Stefan Institute

Feb 13, 2019 | For curious, For experts, Lecture, Video recording

On Wednesday, February 13, 2019, a lecture titled “Harnessing Quantum Phenomena and Winning!” was held at the Faculty of Mathematics and Physics, University of Ljubljana. The lecture was delivered by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Rok Žitko from the Jožef Stefan Institute and the Faculty of Mathematics and Physics, UL. He presented the development of quantum mechanics from its early days, when pioneers in the field could only theoretically envision quantum experiments, to the present, where scientists conduct controlled experiments with individual quantum particles.

Dr. Žitko emphasized that fundamental quantum phenomena, such as state superposition, entanglement, and wave function collapse, are no longer merely academic curiosities but are becoming the foundation of future technological devices. Quantum computing and quantum technologies have the potential to revolutionize industries, pharmaceuticals, material research, and even space exploration.
